I have always loved to teach, but my first gigs as a software trainer felt empty because I was teaching a technical skill. After I started practicing yoga regularly in 2001, I longed to share the self-affirming, stress-easing practices I was learning with other desk jockeys.Â
While I enjoyed teaching the basics of yoga in various corporate environments, I found myself drawn to working with special populations, including seniors and cancer patients. That desire led me to become a yoga therapist to deepen my own practice of the subtler side of yoga. I became enchanted with the connections between the body, breath, mind, and emotions, and how asana, mudra, pranayama, sound, and imagery can completely change how you feel. Â
Now with two decades of teaching experience, I understand that yoga is not about the technical skill of doing poses a certain way, but a body, mind, and spirit maintenance practice that enables us to grow as individuals into our authentically ageing selves. It is with us on the good days and the bad days, and even coming onto your mat in a simple resting pose is still yoga, and sometimes that is exactly what you need. Â
These days, my work has moved toward oncology teacher training, working with seniors, and offering specialty workshops. I would love to chat with you to share my love of this affirming practice see how we might work together to enable you to be more at home in your body.Â
Namaste!
