Pain Relief Self-Care Retreat

Treat yourself local day-long retreat where you will learn simple and effective techniques for pain relief. We will meet at my home in Bahama, NC, in a beautiful wooded rural setting, start the morning with gentle asana to release tight muscles, then focused breathing and mudras to create space in the body. After a warming vegetarian lunch, we will continue our self-care practices with tennis ball acupressure therapy, a bit of Reiki energy healing, and a yoga nidra session. After tea and a wholesome snack you will leave with new tools to keep your pain at bay. Beginners welcome, please bring your mat, a blanket, and 2 yoga blocks. Wear comfy clothes that you can move in easily.

Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of guided relaxation that is practiced reclining on the floor. You are guided to the place between wakefulness and sleeping where you can engage the witness consciousness while remaining completely relaxed, yet aware. It is a way to positively impact and recondition your mind's subconscious layers, improve the mood, enhance intuition and creativity, and allow you to release stress from the mind and tension from the body. This extended practice begins with a gentle floor flow, a sankalpa setting meditation using mudra to help you uncover your heart's intention, a sound practice to center and ground the mind, and a yoga nidra session. All levels are welcome!
Reiki, Restorative & Aromatherapy

Restore yourself deeply during an afternoon session of restorative yoga, Reiki, and therapeutic aromatherapy in the Urban Zen style with integrative yoga therapist Cheryl Fenner Brown. You will be guided through a gentle restorative practice using bolsters, blankets and other props to fully support the body is restful reclining positions. Reiki will then be applied to the body through light touch, directing healing energy where it is most needed. The space will be infused with pure essential oils to further engage the senses and to relax the mind and emotions. These modalities combine to create a blissful afternoon experience that will ease the stress and strain of daily life.
