The word asana, literally means "seat" and most of the Hatha yoga postures use this suffix as part
of their Sanskrit names. When we practice asana, or yoga poses, we often hold them for a period
teaches us that if we can be with our physical limitations, without railing against them, we can use
the postures as a way to explore the body.
You will find various types of yoga postures here including simple warm-up stretches, seated and
standing poses, forward and back bends, twists, inversions and restorative poses. These
instructions are meant to be a reference guide for when you are practicing at home and need a
little extra instruction. They are by no means the substitute for a qualified yoga teacher so please
practice carefully.
